Analysis of Structure and Style in Journal of Biomechanics

Unit 1: Exploring Writing In Your Field

Advantages and Challenges of

3D-Printing Based Tissue Engineering

Unit 4: Writing Academic Documents

In this document, an academic journal style of writing was used to create a meaningful review article that could provide meaningful contribution towards the bioengineering field of tissue engineering. The traditional journal format was followed, with standard abstracts, keywords, introductions, etc. all included for the purposes of making the writing match the expected uniformity of the field as much as possible. The bold claim that 3D printing based tissue engineering would revolutionize the tissue engineering field was described and backed up in this review.

3. Formulate and articulate a stance through and in my writing.

6. Effectively use and appropriately cite sources in my writing.

8. Use multiple forms of evidence to support my claims, ideas, and

arguments.

Bio-engineering Writing

Tissue Engineering. Biomimetics. Biomechanics.

"All of the documents in my portfolio showcase some avenue of technological advancement – with an emphasis on biological engineering fields (biomechanics, biomimetics, tissue engineering).

Unit 3: Writing Public Documents

In this document, engaging story-like text draws casual readers in to understand biomimetic scientific topics not normally pursued by the public. In addition to relating physical phenomena (wave interference) and concepts to understandable diagrams and explanations, infographics and appealing visuals are used throughout the structure to highlight the writing in an appealing way.

2. Negotiate my own writing goals and audience expectations regarding

conventions of genre, medium, and situation.

7. Explore and represent my experiences, perspectives, and ideas in

conversation with others.

Analysis of Structure and Style in Journal of Biomechanics

Unit 1: Exploring Writing In Your Field

In this paper, the techniques used in the academic (specifically biomechanical engineering) technical discourse were explored and analyzed to gain a better understanding of writing in the field. In addition to noting the impact of invoking scientific lexis appropriate to the discourse community, the overall effectiveness of the scientific journal style writing was observed and addressed.

1.Write to learn and to communicate what I learn.

9. Practice critical reading strategies.
